Alternative Farming Systems Information Center
AFSIC is one of several topic-oriented information centers at the National Agricultural Library. The library is the foremost
agricultural library in the world, and is one of four U.S. national libraries along with the Library of Congress,
the National Library of Medicine, and the National Library of Education. AFSIC is supported, in part, by USDA's
Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program. AFSIC specializes in locating and accessing information
related to alternative cropping systems including sustainable, organic, low-input, biodynamic, and regenerative agriculture.
AFSIC also focuses on alternative crops, new uses for traditional crops, and crops grown for industrial production.
Oregon State University Linus Pauling Institute
Source for up-to-date information on the roles of specific vitamins, minerals,
phytochemicals and other nutrients in preventing disease and promoting health.
Phytochemical and Ethnobotanical Databases by Dr. James Duke
A site offering searches by plant, chemical, activity, and ethnobotany with database references. It also includes browsable
databases on plant ranges, uses and chemicals. Users can reference the Tico Ethnobotanical Dictionary for
information on specific plants from around the world. Dr. Duke has included links to other useful sites.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and The National Library of Medicine have
partnered to create a library of complementary and alternative medicine articles and research
results. The site allows you to search for information by illness, treatment or author. There
are over 200,000 articles available for search.
