The Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered Foods
The Campaign is a national grassroots consumer campaign lobbying Congress and the President to pass
legislation that will require the labeling of genetically engineered foods in the United States. The
site provides regular news updates.
Citizens for Health
CFH is an international network of individuals who want to make informed choices regarding their health care.
Their site provides legislative news and activist tools.
Citizens Internet Empowerment Coalition
The CIEC is a coalition of library and civil liberties groups, online service providers, newspaper, book, magazine
and recording industry associations, and individual Internet users that is challenging the Communications Decency
Act on the grounds that the Internet is a unique communications medium which deserves broad First Amendment protections.
Center for Science in the Public Interest
CSPI is a nonprofit education and advocacy organization that focuses on improving the safety and
nutritional quality of our food supply and on reducing the damage caused by use of
alcoholic beverages. CSPI seeks to promote health through educating the public about
nutrition and alcohol; it represents citizens' interests before legislative,
regulatory, and judicial bodies.and it works to ensure that advances in science are used
for the public's good. The web page is produced by the group that publishes the Nutrition Action Healthletter and
includes information on Codex Alimentarius, food labelling, food safety standards, World Health Organization, and NAFTA issues.
Dietary Supplement Quality Initiative
This is the consumer advocacy site of the DSQI. Written in simple language, the site explains what supplements are, how they are
labeled, how to understand labels, safety issues, and industry issues. It also provides questions for consumers to ask
retailers and suppliers about supplements, along with an extensive list of links. DSQI now also
has a separate site, SupplementQuality.com,
with more comprehensive consumer supplement news and updates.

EarthSave supplies information, support and programs to people who want to make food choices to promote
environmental well-being and human health.
EarthSave Seattle
EarthSave Seattle is an all-volunteer local action group affiliated with EarthSave International.
Environmental Research Foundation
Environmental Research Foundation (ERF) was founded in 1980 to provide understandable scientific
information about the influence of toxic substances on human health and the environment. They
specialize in information on hazardous substances and hazardous technologies, including
landfills, incinerators, pesticides, organochlorine compounds, risk assessments, and
their effects on human and environmental health to support local, grass-roots environmental action.
Mothers & Others for a Livable Planet
Mothers & Others, a national non-profit education organization, works to promote consumer choices which are
safe and ecologically sustainable for this generation and the next. They provide strategies that can reduce
individual and community consumption of natural resources, and seek to mobilize consumers to make sustainable choices.
Mothers for Natural Law
Mothers for Natural Law was founded to develop simple, practical action steps to safeguard the future on issues from
the environment to crime, education, health and the economy. Because they feel it is extremely urgent, they have made
genetic engineering their only focus and have put the other issues on hold to devote all their energies to educating the
public on GMOs.
Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides
Association that advances healthy alternatives to pesticides. Site includes facts and news about
pesticide use, information on NCAP programs, and links to other pesticide sites.
Organic Consumers Association
The OCA is a non-profit, consumer advocacy organization whose goal is to make organic agriculture the dominant form of
food and fiber production in the U.S. and around the world. The OCA educates organic consumers to protect the integrity
of the organic label, promote sustainable and organic agriculture, oppose hazardous practices of industrialized farming
and genetic engineering, and protect citizens' right to know how their food is produced and processed. The OCA was
formerly the Campaign for Food Safety.
Oregon Concerned Citizens for Safe Foods
OCCSF was formed specifically to address the issue of labeling genetically engineered foods in
Oregon through the initiative process.
Pesticide Action Network North America
PANNA campaigns to replace pesticides with ecologically sound alternatives. They link over 130 affiliated health, consumer,
labor, environment, progressive agriculture and public interest groups in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. with more than 400 partners
worldwide to promote healthier, more effective pest management through education, media, demonstrations of alternatives and international
advocacy campaigns.
Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
PCRM is a group of doctors and laypersons working together for compassionate and effective
medical practice, research and health promotion. The group promotes vegetarian diets and
is against research conducted on animals. Their site features a variety of articles
on these and related subjects.
Public Citizen
Founded by Ralph Nader in 1971, Public Citizen is a watchdog organization for consumer safety.
The organization is divided into six groups; Congress Watch, the Health Research Group, the Litigation
Group, the Critical Mass Energy Project, Global Trade Watch, and Buyers Up.
SupplementWatch.com
SupplementWatch.com is a privately-held, self-funded corporation of scientists, physiologists,
nutritionists, and other health practitioners to provide information on nutrition and dietary
supplements in an easy to understand format. They review products, summarize data on specific
dietary supplements, offer a nutrition newsletter, and answer questions on supplements via e-mail.
Union of Concerned Scientists
UCS is an independent nonprofit alliance of 70,000 citizens and scientists who combine scientific research with public
education and citizen advocacy for a cleaner, healthier environment. UCS was founded in 1969 by faculty members and students
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who were concerned about what they saw as the misuse of science and technology
in society.

Worldwatch is a nonprofit public policy research organization that informs policymakers and the public about emerging global problems
and trends and the complex links between the world economy and its environmental support systems.
