Academy for Guided Imagery
AGI offers a certification program with 150 hours of course work in interactive guided imagery. Includes referral service to 500 health professionals who have earned certification.

American Academy of Pain Management
Members are certified practioners who have a degree as a DC, DDS, DPM, MD, PharmD, Ph.D., PT, or RN. AAPM publishes a peer-reviewed quarterly journal as well as a quarterly newsletter. Referrals are available, with listings requiring at least two years of experience, three letters of reference, an exam, a signed code of ethics, and patient bill of rights.

American Association of Drugless Practitioners
Members can earn AADP board certification as Alternative Medical Practitioners if they have a degree as an ND, NMD, DC, DN, MD, DO, DDS, DD, or Ph.D. Free consumer referrals.

The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians
The AANP provides a national forum for naturopathic physicians to develop practice guidelines, a Naturopathic Oath, a comprehensive definition of naturopathic medicine, and position papers to guide clinical practice on a wide variety of topics. They also provide a national directory with referrals for a small fee.

American Association of Nutritional Consultants
National association of Certified Nutritional and Dietary Consultants. AANC administers a certification program for professional members that requires they successfully complete a series of tests demonstrating proficiency in nutrition and practice management. The site includes a referral database.

American Association of Oriental Medicine
The Web site contains an introduction to oriental medicine along with information on education, articles and publications, current events, and legislative issues. Free referrals to acupuncturist members who have completed training, passed the national certification exam, and are state licensed.

American Board of Hypnotherapy
ABH provides training, certification and registration to its members. Their list of 10,000 members, all of whom have completed their training program, is the basis for free referrals.

American Chiropractic Association
Information on chiropractic treatment, member and consumer tips, education, and a searchable database of over 20,000 members offering spinal adjustment and related supplemental therapies.

American College for Advancement in Medicine
ACAM is a non-profit medical society that educates physicians on the latest findings and emerging procedures in complementary/alternative medicine, with special emphasis on preventive/nutritional medicine. Searchable database of licensed medical doctors and chiropractors who support preventive alternative medicine, including nutrition and chelation therapies.

American Herbalists Guild
AHG is a non-profit, educational organization for herbalists specializing in the medicinal use of plants. The site provides a description of the different herbal specialties and a list of professional members who have been approved by their peer review board.

American Holistic Health Association
AHHA educates the public about holistic approaches to wellness and promotes consideration of the whole person (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual) in making health decisions and healing. The Web site includes information on holistic health along with links to a variety of resources for consumers.

American Holistic Medical Association
National association of licened physicians who practice holistic medicine and have an MD or DO degree, as well as students studying for these degrees. They also offer associate membership for certified, registered or licensed health care practitioners. Site includes consumer information on how to select a holistic practitioner.

American Massage Therapy Association
AMTA is an international association with over 42,000 massage therapist members in 30 countries. Site includes information on massage therapy, a job network, listing of events, an online journal, and news. Searchable database for consumers looking for local massage therapists.

American Oriental Bodywork Therapy Association
International association of certified practitioners and instructors in 12 forms of Asian Bodywork Therapy including Shiatsu, Acupressure, Tui Na, Thai, Jin Shin Do, Chi Nei Tsang, and AMMA therapists. Site includes extensive information about the different modalities as well as a searchable database of member pratitioners.

American Osteopathic Association
National association of osteopathic physicians who have DO degrees and are licensed. Extensive consumer information about osteopathic medicine and a database of member physicians by state.

American Preventive Medical Association
APMA is a political voice for health care practitioners who use nutritional and other complementary therapies in patient care. They promote a comprehensive perspective on health that utilizes preventive medical techniques and less-invasive, more natural methods of patient management.

American Psychiatric Association, Division of Public Affairs
International association of physicians specializing in mental and emotional disorders and substance abuse. Site includes news, clinical and research resources, legislative informatàÿþàÿþàÿþàÿþ bank. Extensive consumer information on seeking psychiatric help and resources for assistance.

American Society for the Alexander Technique
Alexander Technique teachers focus on movement education to deal with a variety of health issues. The Web site features class and workshop listings, teacher training information, book lists, and articles.

The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis
National association of doctors, dentists, psychologists, and social workers trained in clinical hypnosis. The site lists pertinent videos and books as well as workshops available. Consumer information explaining clinical hypnosis and answering common questions. Referrals available by sending an inquiry along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals
National association for practitioners in massage, bodywork and somatic therapies and esthetics. Information about the specialties, an online journal, and career information on the Web site. Referrals offered to consumers by specialty as well as location.

Association of Humanistic Psychology
AHP members are primarily clinical practitioners who believe in humanistic and whole person approaches to healing. Consumers can access the online Humanistic Professional Directory for referrals. Web site includes information on the humanistic approach, news and articles, and a forum.

Commonweal
Commonweal is a health and environmental research institute that focuses primarily on cancer and life-threatening illnesses, children and young adults with learning and social difficulties, and a healthy and sustainable future.

Dietary Supplement Education Alliance
DSEA is a partnership created to promote the responsible use of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and specialty supplements. The site includes information for consumers and the trade on regulation, quality, consumer trends, and news. It features a searchable database of health conditions and dietary supplements. NNFA serves on the DSEA steering committee.

Earthmed.com
Comprehensive site for consumers and practitioners interested in holistic health care and lifestyles. Information by conditions and treatments with a searchable database of practitioner members and holistic health centers. Discussion groups, newsletters and magazines included.

Environmental Working Group
EWG provides content for public interest groups and concerned citizens who are campaigning to protect the environment. EWG researchers, computer specialists and writers produce reports, articles, technical assistance and develop computer databases and Internet resources based on original EWG analyses of government and other data.

Feldenkrais Guild of North America
International association open to those personally trained by Dr. Feldenkrais or by an accredited Guild training program. Information on the Feldenkrais Method, newsletters, articles and books. Searchable database of certified practitioners.

Food Marketing Institute
FMI is a nonprofit association conducting programs in research, education, industry relations and public affairs on behalf of its members. Membership includes subsidiaries of food retailers and wholesalers and their customers in the United States and around the world.

Homeopathic Academy of Naturopathic Physicians
Affiliated with American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, HANP focuses on homeopathy. The site explains what homeopathy is and provides a searchable database of members and practitioners.

International Association of Counselors and Therapists
An international association of professional, licensed or certified counselors and mental health therapists with a strong interest in complementary approaches. Site includes training programs and professional conference information.

International Association of Healthcare Practitioners
Association for doctors, nurses, dentists, psychiatrists, psychologists, physical and occupational therapists, and other practitioners who promote complementary health care. Site features a searchable database of member practitioners, news, and course information.

International Chiropractors Association
Oldest association of chiropractic practitioners, educators and students in the U.S. Site offers news, professional guidelines, legislative information, consumer information on chiropractic care, and a searchable database of members.

International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements
IFOAM's main function is coordinating the network of the organic movement around the world. Their site includes directories, links, and information on their annual conferences.

International Institute of Reflexology
Association for certified practitioners of reflexology. Site includes a history of reflexology, training information and dates, and books and charts.

International Nurses Association Complementary Therapists
International association of licensed nurses who practice touch and/or massage therapies. Free referrals via e-mail to over 700 members.

International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine
ISOM furthers the advancement of orthomolecular medicine throughout the world. Orthomolecular medicine describes the practice of preventing and treating disease by providing the body with optimal amounts of substances which are natural to the body.

Midwives' Alliance of North America
National association of trained midwives, including Certified Professional Midwives or Certified Nurse Midwives. Free referrals to members who have given permission to be in the referral database.

National Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine Alliance
Information on acupuncture and oriental medicine treatment, colleges, professional issues, and laws. Database of over 8,000 acupuncturists who are either state licensed or National Board Certified.

The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy
Educational, non-profit organication promoting public awareness of aromatherapy. The site includes their journal, a calendar of events, and a resource list that includes a directory of schools and educators.

National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists
Members are certified after graduation from a recognized training program and passing a certification exam. Additional update training through CEU programs is required. Free referrals for consumers.

National Nutritional Foods Association - National Office
NNFA's site includes position papers, news updates, press releases, newsletters, trade show information with online registration, links to other sites, and information on a variety of member programs and benefits.

The ONE Foundation
International association of primary health care practitioners trained in the Neuro Emotional Technique (NET). Free referrals to consumers.

Organic Farmers Marketing Association
OFMA assists organic farmers in marketing, communication and public advocacy. Their site offers legislative information, a list of organic certifiers, a discussion of GMO issues, and referrals for internships on organic farms.

Organic Farming Research Foundation
OFRF sponsors research related to organic farming practices, disseminates research results to organic farmers and to growers interested in adopting organic production systems, and educates the public and decision-makers about organic farming issues.

Organic Materials Review Institute
OMRI is a nonprofit organization created to publish and disseminate generic and specific (brand name) lists of materials allowed and prohibited for use in the production, processing, and handling of organic food and fiber. OMRI also conducts scientific research and education on the use of materials by the organic industry.

Organic Trade Association
OTA is a national association representing the organic industry in Canada and the United States. Members include growers, shippers, processors, certifiers, farmer associations, brokers, consultants, distributors and retailers. The OTA promotes organic products in the marketplace and the integrity of organic standards.

Oregon Tilth
Oregon Tilth is a non-profit research and education organization certifying organic farmers, processors, retailers and handlers throughout Oregon, the United States, and internationally.

Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation
Non-profit clearinghouse of information on healthful lifestyles, nutrition, alternative medicine, organic gardening, and ecology. Pre-screened referrals to licensed healthcare practitioners with nutritional approaches to care. Includes DC, DDS, DO, MD, ND, RN, Ph.D., RD, and RPh.

The Provender Alliance
The Provender Alliance is a non-profit membership organization providing networking, advocacy, and education to natural foods and related companies doing business in the Northwest.

Rolf Institute of Structural Integration
International association of certified Rolfers. Web site offers information on the Rolf Institute and Rolfing, along with a searchable database of practitioners.

Society of Certified Nutritionists
The SCN is an organization of professional nutritionists that promotes the establishment and maintenance of professionalism in nutritional counseling and the continued advancement of knowledge in the counseling field. Online database of certified nutritionists listed by region of the U.S.

The Trager Institute
International association of certified Trager practitioners. Includes information on the history of the Trager Approach, training, articles, and a listing of certified practitioners by country.
